Adopt a Boxer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Jackie is a sweet, two year old dog. She is a pretty brown color and may have some hound in her. She came to us from a high kill shelter in the south.

Jackie is a smart dog and is a fast learner with basic commands and tricks. She still has a lot of puppy behaviors and tons of energy and loves her exercise time outside. Jackie needs an active family that can provide her with all the exercise that she needs. She will need continued work on her basic commands and house manners and will need to go to a home with a fenced in yard if she is ever outside for any length of time unsupervised. 

Jackie loves to be with her people. She has been good with the kids she has met, but would do best with older children due to her size and high energy . She enjoys time hanging out and going for walks or runs. She does get a little nervous with men wearing hats. Jackie is playful and good with most other dogs - although she likes to play rough. Jackie should not go to a home with cats. Although she is very interested in them, she plays too rough.

Jackie needs thing to chew on. She loves to chew on bones and cow hooves. She shouldn't have soft, stuffed toys becuase she will just tear them up. But she loves a good bone!

Jackie needs a strong leader who is able to continue working with her training. once you have established that you are the leader, Jackie listens and obeys commands extremely well. Jackie has a dominant personality and will need a home with an experienced dog owner. Jackie's trainer is happy to provide a free training session to anyone who adopts her. 

While being checked by the vet on 2/14/17 Jackie was diagnosed with a dermoid cyst on the top of her head. This type of cyst is nothing to worry about and the vet did not recommend removal at this time because it is mostly a cosmetic issue. Anyone adopting Jackie will just need to monitor the cyst for any signs of changes that could possibly happen in the future.
